What is GUST?Initially started by Asma Ali in 2017, a junior in high school at the time, Project GUST began as a simple program intended to give back to her community and make a small difference locally. However, since then, GUST has reached further out to make lasting impacts on a multitude of communities.

No matter where Project GUST goes, the goal is always the same. We want to show young girls how engaging and rewarding STEM fields can be.
SCHOOLS. We visit schools on a weekly, monthly, or bi-monthly basis, where we set up an after-school 'GUST club' and go through a different topic/activity each meeting.
OTHER ORGANIZATIONS. Project GUST works with organizations such as Boys and Girls Clubs and the Girl Scouts of America, where we teach a group of young girls about a specific topic in STEM, and then do a fun activity relating to the topic for the girls to take home!
SUMMER CAMPS. We partner with local elementary and middle schools to conduct summer programs, in the same structure as a GUST day-long activity.
SCIENCE PROGRAMS AND FESTIVALS. Project GUST sets up booths at local STEM fairs, such as WPI's TouchTomorrow. We also participate in programs such as Girl Scouts' Geek is Glam, where we provide workshops for young girls.
...AND MORE! We have many exciting programs coming up in the near future. Anyone can bring GUST to their program or organization; just see below or visit our 'Get Involved' tab!

How Does It Work?
For schools: Every month, each age group meets once and delves into a new topic related to STEM (science, technology, engineering, & mathematics). Led by a high school student (or a small group of high school students), young girls learn about a specific topic each meeting, and then undertake a related hands-on project or experiment.
For other organizations/programs: GUST programs take place any time throughout the year, either in a structured monthly format like schools, or as separate, one-time programs scattered at different points during the year.
